Darren Ball Textile Artist

As a broadening of Darren’s ‘Les Fleurs’ project he is creating an ongoing collection of ‘Légumes’. These are inspired by his 1920’s French seed pack labels and are embroidered to be the same size as the original labels. The small scale (only 6cm x 10cm) is appropriate for the bolder design of the vegetable illustrations. Darren aims to achieve a trompe l’oeil embroidery through close observation of colour and line and references the domestic nature of gardening through stitch.
