About The Artist
After achieving a BA (Hons) Degree (first) in Fashion Textiles from Middlesex Polytechnic I worked as a freelance designer. I later trained as a teacher and have worked in all levels of education, specialising in textiles.
In 2004 I completed an MA in Textile Culture at Norwich School of Art & Design. I currently combine teaching with the development of my own practice.
In 2019 I was one of 26 selected designer makers who completed the prestigious Crafts Council Hothouse programme.
I am a Full Member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and a member of the Sussex Guild.
I exhibit at a number of shows each year and offer bespoke talks and workshops in stitched textiles to groups and guilds.
About My Work
My use of embroidery has developed gradually over a period of years. I aim to exploit the restrictions of free embroidery to create contemporary one-off images. I use the economy of continuous line drawing and combine it with flat areas of patterned fabric to create a stylised image.
